Moonshot Studio celebrates the newest Theater for Young Audiences show Finn! Inspired by Finn’s journey of self-discovery, friendship, and adventure, Moonshot invites you to celebrate being yourself with silly self-portraits, funny fish, and catchy theme songs.
Create a squiggly portrait of yourself! Don’t look at your paper and you don’t lift up your pencil while you draw. You might wind up with eyelashes on your mouth and your ears on your chin, but that’s okay! The squigglier, the better.
Create a self-portrait that shows how you see yourself in the world and how you want the world to see you. What kinds of ideas, symbols, and words help show who you are?
Work together to make an exquisite, silly fish in this drawing game. The fantastical fish will be put up on the wall as a collaborative installation.
Use Garage Band to make your signature song! Play around with different instruments and loops to find your perfect mix.
Many of our projects take 60-90 minutes to complete. These projects are self-guided and self-paced, allowing you to explore a longer artmaking process.
Moonshot Studio staff is available to introduce the projects and to lend a hand when needed.

Moonshot@Home is a digital series aimed at bringing the energy and joy of the Moonshot Studio to people wherever they may be.
Create colorful pennants based on the inspirational words of President Kennedy; learn about the artistic process and how artists from different art forms can inspire each other; and discover tips and tricks behind great portrait photography.
Moonshot@Home activities use widely available materials and engaging prompts to spark at-home, off-screen creative adventures for people of all ages.
The REACH is a living theater where diverse art forms collide to break down the boundaries between audience and art. It is an immersive learning center, a public incubator, and a set of dynamic, collaborative spaces within an architecturally innovative campus.
What makes a great portrait in the digital—or any—age? By looking at the works of Richard Avedon and Andy Warhol we learn that it's not enough to create just another pretty face.
In this 3-5 lesson, students will illustrate self-portraits to identify their senses. They will take a virtual field trip to the ocean to explore a sensory experience. Students will write a haiku poem about the ocean, bringing science and creative writing together as one.
In this K-2 lesson, students will explore the historical and cultural qualities of Gyotaku, the traditional Japanese method of printing fish. Students will identify the external parts of fish, then create original Gyotaku prints.
In this 3-5 lesson, students will research and gather information about gray whales. Students will collaborate in groups to write, produce, and perform a newscast about gray whales using the essential qualities of a news anchor.
