Based in Philadelphia, the Jasper String Quartet is hailed as “flawless in ensemble and intonation, expressively assured, and beautifully balanced” (Gramophone). The quartet is praised for its compelling, thought-provoking programs, which connect the music of underrepresented and living composers to canonical repertoire. A recipient of Chamber Music America’s 2012 Cleveland Quartet Award, the ensemble is also the founder and artistic director of Jasper Chamber Concerts, a series dedicated to encouraging curiosity, community, and inclusivity through world-class chamber music performances.

The quartets by William Grant Still and Vivian Fung similarly create a complete story through distinctly characterful movements. Despite a similar concept in form, Still, Fung, and Beethoven each create a musical portrait that is unique to their experience.
