For three weeks, EARTH to SPACE: Arts Breaking the Sky will fill the Center with musicians and astronauts, poets and researchers, visual artists and engineers, actors and environmentalists, architects and astronomers, dancers and scientists, film makers and space designers. It is our conviction that insights into the marvels of the universe can inspire action to protect our own planet, and that the arts can stimulate fresh thinking about the challenges that confront us.

JFK Quote

“Space can be explored and mastered without feeding the fires of war, without repeating the mistakes that man has made in extending his writ around this globe of ours.”

President John F. Kennedy
1962 address at Rice University

Aneeshwaar invites you to EARTH to SPACE

Curator’s Note

Space is having a moment. Excitement is building around NASA’s project to put humans on the Moon for the first time in more than five decades. The “humans” will include a woman and a person of color, and commercial and international partners will help establish the first long-term presence on the Moon. The media is also buzzing about visions for space tourism, mining minerals on asteroids, even colonies on Mars. Meanwhile, environmentalists are warning about the downside to these ventures—tons of “space junk” is already orbiting the Earth.
